I get the signal all over the house and even out in the yard. It doesn't just tell you the temp, but how much longer until it's cooked and when to pull it to let the residual cooking finish it. Even better it is a breeze to clean and takes up almost no space to store.
This is a pretty cool gadget. I bought it for about a week or so ago to use it during the holidays. Yesterday, I smoked a 10-pound pork shoulder for 8 hours on my 22" Weber Kettle using a rotisserie. I used this thermometer to keep an eye on things. It worked perfectly. I did not have any issues with connectivity. I did not have to deal with cables which were the main reason I purchased this product (especially for the rotisserie). The app worked fine -- and the app alerts did their job. I would love to know how this thermometer calculates the estimated cooking time without entering the weight of the meat you are cooking. Cooking time was spot-on for 203 degrees Fahrenheit. I have used many BBQ thermometers, but this is far and beyond the best, I have owned. Easy to use, very accurate. The range is excellent, the support is a bit clunky, but works and post-cooking graphs are fascinating. I got this because I left my wired thermometer at my sister's house during Thanksgiving. So I wanted to try a wireless and my search was over when I found this bad boy. It is great. Easy to use. Easy to clean. You have to keep the box as close to the prob as possible. I found making a brisket in the oven a problem. I had to keep the box on top of the stove while cooking it. Luckily I so the brisket overnight so I don't use the burners. But if I didn't I wouldn't be able to cook until the brisket was out of the oven. Other than that once you find the sweet spot this thing is godly never have I ever found to be cooking and watched my phone just to look at the play by play in the oven. The app even shows you if anyone opens the door to the oven. I caught my wife sneaking a peek at the brisket while I was in my room. I still give it 5 stars because it is a great machine.
I've tried all sorts of high-tech and low-tech thermometers. Last night I used this one for sirloin steaks cooked on the gas grill. Setup was easy--just poke it in. No wires to worry about! I put the charging unit near the grill, and went into the house, tracked cooking on my cell. I turned the steak after two minutes, as I usually do. Then the tool told me when to remove the meat from the grill. It then told me to let it rest and told me later when the resting time was over. My wife said it was the most perfectly cooked steak she's ever had. What's great about this tool is that you don't have any wires to fool with. So you can use it on an outdoor grill or inside in the oven or even in a frying pan or indoor grill. What's also great is that it predicts how long the meat will take to cook, so that you can coordinate the other dishes you're fixing. You know how hard it is to cook chicken breasts "just right"? A minute or two too soon and they are undercooked. A minute or two too late and they are dry and overcooked. No more. Avid backyard barbecuer. Was in the market to replace my oldschool thermometer dial probe with a digital one and came across this one.
